Legal Identity for All

FVLWB recognizes the right to legal identity as a fundamental foundation for the implementation of human rights and freedoms. We prioritize this area, highlighting it as a core focus of our activities.

People without legal identity or legal status often find themselves marginalized, unable to prove who they are, secure decent jobs, gain civil rights, or access basic services. This extreme vulnerability limits their access to public goods and private services.

Article 6 of the Universal Declaration of Human Rights states that everyone has the right to recognition as a person before the law. Additionally, Sustainable Development Goal target 16.9 aims for “legal identity for all, including birth registration, by 2030,” which is essential for realizing the 2030 Agenda’s commitment to leaving no one behind. The United Nations Task Force on Legal Identity works to increase the number of countries that consider legal identity issues a fundamental pillar of national development plans and strategies, ensuring access to essential public goods and services for all.

FVLWB contributes to resolving issues related to the lack of legal identity, focusing particularly on statelessness and lack of documentation.

The association offers a permanent reception and hotline for legal assistance to individuals facing issues of legal identity, statelessness, lack of proper legal status, and civil documentation and registration. Our services include:
