Nansen Award – A Symbol of Hope

“This year’s Nansen Award … shows to the stateless people all over the world that their voices are heard. For them, this award is a symbol of hope.”
Azizbek Ashurov

Azizbek Ashurov, the head of Ferghana Valley Lawyers without Borders, was honored with the prestigious Nansen Award, becoming the first person ever to win the award for work on statelessness. Ashurov received 2019 Nansen Award for his 16-year commitment to support the efforts of the Kyrgyz Republic to become the first country to eradicate statelessness.
